PDS FHIR API - patient access using NHS login
Allow the PDS FHIR API to be accessed by patients. This would require the citizen to have an NHS login account (so they are strongly authenticated) and allow them to view their own record and make limited updates to it (e.g. contact details but not registered GP, because there's a process for that). It would not allow patients to perform a PDS search to find their own record - rather then must identify themselves by creating an NHS login account.

Tony Heap AdminWe originally saw this as a high priority but we haven't managed to find any concrete use cases as yet so it's on hold until we do. If you are interested in this feature, please upvote it or leave a comment including your contact details so we can discuss.

SagarHello Tony, Thanks for your reply. I would like to develop an application which can give exact status of prescription to the patient. I am more than happy to discuss with you, if you can drop me an email.
Thanks. -

Mike SmithAll Patient facing services need to be able to display the patients details to the patient so they can be confident their information is accurate.

Tony Heap AdminMike, this is a good point, but it is probably more in the scope of the calling application than in the API itself. The API will, indeed, make the patient's personal details available to the calling app so it can do this. And we can, of course, provide guidance to this effect in our docs.

JKMCSHi Tony, We have a web platform that healthcare professionals can create and manage patient appointments. We've already expanded this capability with a patient/patient by proxy interface. Happy to discuss

Mike SmithThink this might be better handled as part of work we are exploring around the NHS Account (in NHSX) - there are some complexities we would need to consider i.e. what verification level would be needed
