NHS App API - Patient Appointments
Allow Hospital Patient appointments to be sent to NHS App. Most hospitals have extensive support for appointment messages (in HL7v2) these can easily be transformed into HL7 FHIR for NHS App and a structured extension to the Patient communication api.

Damian HortonThere is a lot you can do with the appointment information/messages. We are aware that patients with treatment journeys would like to know what is next and when (a scan, a physio appointment, which hospital or location). There is good scope for exploring this inside the NHS App.

Mike SmithI like the idea of being able to share appointment messages but not sure needs to be bound to NHS App - it would be better if these could flow to any subscribed system so that other patient facing services can have visibility of these as well.

David Ruddy AdminThere is synergy here with both the universal Booking and Referral Standard being developed as well as the wider BRAM vision (including eRS etc..).
Regarding the standard, it is going to be supporting patient facing applications from the start (one of the private beta participants is 111 Online). I think there is tremendous scope for integration with NHS App using this standard too -

Matthew HarrisIntegration of 'Patient Engagement Portals' (such as PKB, Zesty, DrDoctor etc) into NHS App notifications and messaging is on the roadmap for the Wayfinder programme
