Deprecate / retire the Personal Demographics Service - Spine Mini Service Provider API

We are considering deprecating and eventually retiring the Personal Demographics Service - Spine Mini Service Provider (PDS SMSP) API. This is because the newer PDS FHIR API provides equivalent functionality and we can't maintain previous APIs indefinitely.

We have now deprecated the PDS SMSP API. We have not yet decided on a retirement date - we will consult with developers before making a decision. For more details see https://digital.nhs.uk/developer/api-catalogue/personal-demographics-service-smsp.

Based on feedback from users, we have set the retirement date for the PDS SMSP API to 31st January 2024. We will be communicating that date out to all users of the API and working with them to make sure they can meet the date.
